Changes in Chris Shaw's concert schedule

Hi Everybody! I wanted to let you know that the concert at Norwood Green scheduled for Sunday August 8th has been changed to Thursday August 12th at 7 PM. Wanted you all to know about this weekend's show (Sat. the 17th @ 8 PM) at the Newcomb VIC! This will be my 19th year performing there, and up until lately probably the LAST time I'll be there as it was to be closed due to NYS budgetary cuts ! But since I was last in touch, ESF and the APA have teamed up to save this great resource!!!! (That doesn't nessisarily mean they'll offer music in the future, but at least the Visitor's Center is safe!) Next weekend it's me and Kevin McKrell and our pajama wearin' buddy Brian Melick doing a show at Freedom Park in Scotia, NY. The summer is almost upon us!

Hi Folks! Well, here it comes, another summer in the Adirondacks! The entire summer schedule is up on the website, including some landmark dates. Budget cuts are forcing the closure of the Visitor Interpretive Centers at Newcomb and Paul Smith's, a tragic loss for family, and handicapped access fans of the Adirondacks. This will be my 19th annual, and last, concert at the Newcomb VIC on July 17th at 8 PM, (I'd plan on getting there early!) The Adirondack Folk School has it's Grand Opening on July 5th in Lake Luzerne, check them out at www.adirondackfolkschool.org. I'll be there with some friends just hanging out a pickin a few that afternoon, and back for a full blown concert on July 31st at their outdoor amphitheater! Hi Everybody! There's a new entry at the blog at www.adkchrisshaw.wordpress.com with photos of Lake George, the Adirondacks, as well as the new Oscar's Smokehouse! The ice is off the lake and thoughts are turning to the summer schedule! I'm back as an artist in residence at the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mtn. The Hyde Park Library is thrilled to present Adirondack singer/songwriter/master storyteller Chris Shaw on Saturday, March 27th as the next feature in its Living Room Concert Series. The series offers the finest in contemporary folk and acoustic music and offers hands-on workshops with the featured performers. Christopher Shaw was raised in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. He was born the son, of the son, of a commercial steamboat pilot on Lake George. Shaw worked the big boats and grew up listening to the songs and stories passed down in those mountains from generation to generation, never suspecting he would bring those same songs and stories to audiences all over the world. For over ten years Shaw toured for Taylor Guitars as a clinician demonstrating American Folk and country style guitar from Anchorage to Berlin. In addition to his trips for Taylor, he has appeared at such highly respected venues as the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, two appearances for the Smithsonian Institute, the Philadelphia Folk Festival, the Old Songs Folk Festival, and the Chautauqua Institute, as well as music halls, festivals, and coffee houses across the US and Europe. He has produced a number of TV soundtracks for Public Television. Chris wrote the soundtrack and was "the voice of Seneca Ray" on the television special "Seneca Ray Stoddard: An American Original" seen coast to coast on PBS. Most recently, a live concert special called "Chris Shaw: Live in Concert" is showing on PBS stations across the country Shaw has nine recordings under his belt with another to be released this spring. His 1988 debut, "Adirondack", has been inducted into the Library of Congress Folk Archives. Performers who have contributed to Chris' recordings include such acoustic innovators as Artie Traum <<a href="http://www.artietraum.com/&gt">http://www.artietraum.com/&gt</a>; , John Sebastian, Garth Hudson (The Band), Vassar Clements, Cindy Cashdollar (Asleep at the Wheel), Tony Trischka, Jay Ungar <<a href="http://www.jayandmolly.com/&gt">http://www.jayandmolly.com/&gt</a>; , and Steve Riley. Chris Shaw will take the stage at the Hyde Park Library Annex on Saturday, March 27th beginning at 8:00 PM. Reservations for the concert are strongly suggested. Doors open at 7:30 and reservations will be held until 7:50. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for seniors. A delicious selection of light refreshments will be available for a nominal suggested donation. In addition, Shaw will be leading a workshop on storytelling for both songwriters and non-songwriters on the afternoon of the concert. The cost of the workshop is $45 and includes one admission to the evenings concert (provided the event does not sell out prior to reserving for the workshop). Mountain Snow & Mistletoe is here!

Greetings! Like the songs says, "We need a little Christmas!" And it just so happens, we have some extra Christmas that we're delighted to share with you and yours! Please join us for Mountain Snow and Mistletoe, an Adirondack flavored celebration of the season in song and story. This year, we will present the show at Albany's premier concert venue, The Egg at the Empire State Plaza. And per tradition, we will be joined by the most excellent Mountain Snow Orchestra - John Kirk on fiddle and exquisite vocals, Kevin McKrell on guitar and general irreverence, and Brian Melick on percussion and assorted mischief.
